Olivia Rodrigo has announced the launch of her own music festival, featuring an all-women lineup made up of what she describes as her “heroes and friends”, including Chappell Roan, Doechii and Stevie Nicks.
The 23-year-old singer-songwriter, best known for her breakthrough hit “Drivers License”, revealed the star-studded lineup on Monday. The festival, titled Daisy Chain Fields, will also feature performances by K-pop group Katseye, British singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri, Canadian musician Sarah McLachlan and several other artists.
The event is scheduled to take place on August 29 in Irvine, California and all net proceeds will be donated to organisations dedicated to advancing opportunities and advocating for the rights of women and girls.
Rodrigo shared the announcement with fans through an Instagram post featuring the festival’s official poster. The artwork includes a flower made of colourful pins, one of which bears the slogan “Bans Off Our Bodies”, a reference to a campaign supporting abortion rights in the United States.
Expressing her excitement, Rodrigo wrote: "I’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years and I am so ecstatic it’s finally coming true".
Daisy Chain Fields features an all-women lineup and 100 per cent of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls.
"The lineup is truly incredible and full of my heroes and friends. I firmly believe that joy, community and music can be drivers of meaningful change, and I’m hopeful this festival will be just that".
The announcement comes shortly after Rodrigo released her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, further cementing her place among the most influential young artists in pop music. — dpa
